Arbor Youth Services is the ONLY
emergency shelter for unaccompanied
children in Central Kentucky.

Arbor Youth is working to end youth homelessness by
providing a safe and supportive environment to youth have
suffered abused, abandonment, or are at risk of victimization.

Emergency Shelter

Our emergency shelter serves children from birth through the age of 17 who are homeless, have been removed their homes, have runaway, or otherwise in crisis. Youth may request shelter themselves by accessing a Safe Place location, or they may be referred to Arbor Youth by police, parents, guardians, teachers, counselors, social workers, or other professionals. In addition to providing a safe place to sleep, we provide basic necessities such as food and clothing, as well as enhanced services including crisis counseling, case management, transportation, and youth development activities.

There are no fees to youth or families for any services provided by Arbor Youth. Our shelter currently accommodates 10 children and youth in our facility. To learn more, contact our Shelter & Outreach Coordinator at [email protected].

Outreach Drop-In Center

Our Outreach Center serves youth ages 18 through 24 who are homeless, housing-insecure, or otherwise at risk. The goal of our outreach services is to connect with youth in the community who are at risk of violence, exploitation, or unstable living conditions and engage them in safe, supportive services.  Staff provide both open center hours (7am-7pm)and appointment-based services, offering access to food, clothing, hygiene supplies, crisis counseling, information and referrals, and transportation.

Youth can meet their bsic daily living needs through access to bathrooms, showers, a kitchen area, and on-site laundry facilities.  The Outreach Center also provides connections to case management, housing programs, employment resources, and other supports designed to help youth and young adults move toward stability and independence.  To learn more, contact our Shelter & Outreach Coordinator at [email protected].

Transitional Age Youth Overnight Shelter

Our Transitional Age Youth Overnight Shelter serves young adults ages 18–24 who are experiencing homelessness, housing instability, or crisis. Young adults may request shelter on their own by walking in during program hours (7pm-7am), or they may be referred by community partners, including police, outreach teams, social service agencies, schools, counselors, and other professionals. In addition to providing a safe place to sleep, we offer essential supports such as meals, hygiene supplies, and clothing, along with wraparound services including crisis intervention, individualized case management, workforce and life-skills support, and connections to housing resources.

There are no fees for any services provided at Arbor Youth Services. Our TAY Shelter currently accommodates 11 young adults overnight, with expanded day-time access provided through our Drop-In Center. To learn more, contact our Shelter & Outreach Coordinator at [email protected].

Supportive Housing Services

Our Supportive Housing Services serve youth and young adults who are between 18 and 24 years of age and are currently homeless in Fayette County.  The goal of our housing services is help youth transition from homelessness to housing by providing intensive case management and varying levels of financial support. Project Safe Place

Arbor Youth Services is Central Kentucky’s ONLY Safe Place designated emergency shelter. Our Safe Place services provide access to immediate help and supportive resources for all young people in crisis. Youth can walk into any Safe Place site displaying the yellow sign and ask for help. Safe Place sites then contact Arbor Youth, and we send someone immediately to help the youth in crisis. Safety is only a phone call away.

Youth in crisis can access immediate help via TXT 4 HELP, a text-for-support service. Youth can text the word “SAFE” and their current location (address, city, state) to 4HELP (44357) to receive a message with the closest Safe Place location and the number for Arbor Youth Services.
